Music videos follow certain conventions. Some of them include the pace of the video in terms of what is being show on screen, or the tempo of the editing of the video itself. What i mean is the video could have movement of something like a dance routine that matches the tune on screen in terms of the pace, timing or the energy that the song has. Or alternatively the editing pace could match up with the music by having loads of quick cuts and jumps as the music plays throughout the video, with the amount of cuts depending on how fast or slow the tune your using is.
Another convention i found in the music videos i watched, was that the singers or band would been seen performing the song as the video is being played. This would usually evolve a set of clips being played with the performance clip of the singer or band gets cut in between each section of the video. Or the video could just simply be footage of the singer or band playing the song with the video cutting to different shots of the singers face, instruments and shots of the whole band. Speaking of shots, close ups are used a lot in the videos i researched. Whether it would be shots of the performers face, instruments or any other props used in the video
